Fruta Mix Mexican Kitchen

Last weekend we decided to try a restaurant recommended by some friends.  It is called Fruta Mix Mexican Kitchen and it is located at 15493 Stoneybrook West Parkway, Suite 120, Winter Garden, Florida.  The food is great and the Margaritas are excellent.

The Margaritas are a whooping 20 ounces with many different flavors.  So you can definitely get your drink on.  We chose the standard House Margarita.  Of course as typical at most Mexican restaurants we were given a tray of chips and salsa.  The salsa is fresh made and just a touch spicy.  Yum!

We ordered Supreme Enchiladas with Steak and their red sauce which also came with rice and beans.

We also ordered Camarones a la Parilla.

The restaurant also has a large selection of ice cream, smoothies, and paletas.

They also have a lovely patio to spend some time outside.

We will be coming back to this lovely restaurant as it has become our favorite Mexican restaurant.

St. Patrick’s Day at Crooked Can

This past Sunday was St. Patrick’s Day and like many we decided to go out and enjoy a festival nearby to celebrate.  The festival we attended was held at Crooked Can Brewery in Winter Garden, FL.  Just down the road from where we live.

The brewery is located inside the Plant Street Market a wonderful place filled with all sorts of food vendors, a butcher, a coffee shop, and some merchandise vendors.

Being a festival there was music, children performing Irish dancing, and even a bagpipe marching band.  (See YouTube video at the end of the post.)

Of course there were a lot of people in green and we especially enjoyed some of the special attire some individuals worn.

The Whole Enchilada

On the western edge of Downtown Winter Garden is a great little Tex-Mex restaurant.  One of our favorites.  It is called The Whole Enchilada.

This time of year is perfect for dining out and enjoying both the good weather and good food.  One of the best things about this restaurant is they open up the front to let the outside in.

The atmosphere is comfortable and their house margarita is pretty good.

Our entrée choices for today were pulled pork fajita and a smothered Big Bob Chicken burrito.

The best part is the price is very reasonable.  The only bad things are the dishes are paper and the utensils are plastic.

Light Up Winter Garden

Last night was Winter Garden’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.  It was great fun.  We have attended many events in downtown Winter Garden and we can honestly say we have never seen so many people there for a festival.

There was even Elf on a Shelf making a visit.

Oktoberfest in the Neighborhood

This weekend was our local brewery’s Oktoberfest.  Crooked Can Brewery is a fun place with plenty of choices for food, beer, and wine.

There was music, dancing, and even wiener dog races.  A typical song sung by the entertainment this weekend was…

And one member of the duo was even able to play a saw.

The weather was perfect this weekend, and everyone was out with their families, friends, and fur babies.  A perfect day to relax and just have fun.

Saturday’s in Winter Garden

Like most families today, Saturday is usually spent running necessary errands.  So… when we complete those errands we like to spend some time in downtown Winter Garden.  It is very relaxing strolling through the streets of this town.

There are a lot of little shops, cafes, restaurants, and even a local brewery.  There is something to cater every palate.

In the early days of Winter Garden the town was mainly an agricultural community and many orange plantations were located here.  So throughout the town there are little reminders of this history.

If you are ever in the area near Winter Garden, Florida do yourself a favor and stop by this town enjoy it for even just a little while.  You will not regret it.

Winter Garden Farmer’s Market

Every Saturday in the town next door to where we live a Farmer’s Market is held.  It is a wonderful eclectic mix of artistic vendors, food vendors, and vegetables.  There is a great splash pad for the children to cool off and play.  As well as musical entertainment.

It is a great way to enjoy a Saturday morning with your friends or family.  Go and check it out if you get a chance.
